Medical Marijuana Registry Cards In Colorado

To legally use medical marijuana in the state of Colorado, you need to have a current Colorado Medical Marijuana Registry Identification Card.

Known more familiarly as MMJ cards, these documents are issued by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment: Medical Marijuana Registry, Colorado Department of Public Health And Environment, HSVR-ADM2-A, 4300 Cherry Creek Drive  South, Denver, CO 80246, (303) 692-2184.

All information in the state registry is kept confidential. There’s a $90 non-refundable fee to apply for a registry card, and you’ll be notified within 35 days of receiving your application whether you’re eligible for a Colorado Medical Marijuana Registry Card.

These cards only allow the legal use of medical marijuana in the state of Colorado. Although medical marijuana has been legalized in twelve other states, there are no reciprocity agreements with any other states.

To qualify for the Colorado Medical Marijuana Registry Card, you’ll need to demonstrate that you have a debilitating condition (such as cancer, AIDs, severe or chronic pain, glaucoma, muscle spasms, etc.) and that you could benefit from the use of medical marijuana. You’ll also need to provide a completed Physician Certification form and provide medical records that document your diagnosis and treatment history.

Once you’ve been approved for the Colorado Medical Marijuana Registry Card, it’s good for one year, and you’re legally permitted to purchase and possess up to 2 ounces of medical marijuana at a time.

If your application is denied, you’ll have to wait at least six months before reapplying for a Colorado Medical Marijuana Registry Card.
