Debilitating Medical Conditions And Medical Marijuana
In 2000, when Colorado voters passed Amendment 20 legalizing the use of medical marijuana, they made it clear that the drug was intended for use with debilitating conditions only, including:
•glaucoma
•cancer
•HIV
•AIDS
•immune deficiencies
•epilepsy
•muscle spasms and spasticity
•severe or chronic pain
•multiple sclerosis
•wasting diseases
To legally use medical marijuana in Denver, you need to have a valid Colorado Medical Marijuana Registry Card, which can only be issued by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
To qualify for the MMJ card, you’ll need to prove that you have a debilitating medical condition by filling out an application, including medical records and documentation, and submitting a certification from a physician with whom you have a bona-fide doctor-patient relationship.
When you’re applying for the registry card, it helps if you can show that you’ve tried traditional medical therapies and approaches for nausea control, appetite stimulation, and/or pain relief and management.
While admittedly there are side effects and risks, medical marijuana can provide relief for some medical conditions and diseases. For more information on the benefits of medical marijuana, check with your doctor.
Purchasing medical marijuana is legal in the Denver metro area including: Westminster, Brighton, Englewood, Aurora, Lakewood, Longmont, Boulder, Golden, Littleton, Wheat Ridge, Broomfield, Arvada, and Centennial.
